Reducing Errors: Omnidose in the ED

Out of all pediatric emergency department visits each year, only 30% directly present to children's hospitals . In hospitals that are not strictly for the pediatric population, especially those in rural areas, room for medication errors is staggering. Lack of staff familiarity with weight-based medication calculations as well as a lack of specific resources in these facilities contribute greatly to the amount of medication errors made in critical care scenarios and therefore decrease the odds of good patient outcomes .
